The Adelaide Superkart Club Youth Encouragement Program is aimed at enabling young people between 12 and 22 years of age to participate in a motor sport activity that takes place in a well organised, highly disciplined and controlled environment. However, just as importantly the program is about helping young people with their general personal development by introducing them into the extended family environment that exists within the Adelaide Superkart Club. This program will be held throughout race meetings organised by the Adelaide Superkart Club during 2008 at Mallala Motorsport Park. Event meeting dates include February 10th, April 6th, June 29th, July 20th, August 9th and 10th (Nationals at Phillip Island), September 14th, October 19th, November 9th December 7th.

Those joining the program will receive tutoring and mentoring from experienced competitors at all rounds and also reduced race entry fees to the Youth Championship rounds. Participants must provide their own eligible Superkart including fuel, tyres, spares, tools etc, the appropriate race attire, including a helmet, CAMS licence, Club membership and pay the required entry fees. Participants in the Adelaide Superkart Club Youth Encouragement Program will be competing for the 2008 Superkart Youth Championship. The championship will be held over three race meetings during 2008 on April 6th, June 29th and July 20th at Mallala Motorsport Park.

Adelaide Superkart Club race meetings generally consist of one or two practice sessions, and four or five race heats. Each heat generally lasts around 15 minutes. Details of the specific formats will be provided in the Event Supplementary Regulations sent to each driver prior to the event. Superkart classes eligible for the 2008 Superkart Youth Championship are as follows: 12 - 15 Years: Rotax Max Junior, 16 - 21 Years: Rotax Max Senior. How the winners are determined: Eligible drivers with no upheld infringements will accrue points in their class during the three race meetings that make up the championship.
Each meeting will comprise 4 heats (12 scoring heats overall).
For 1st year drivers the 2 worst heat scores will be dropped and replaced by the average of the remaining 10 heats.
For non-1st year drivers all 12 heat scores will count.
The highest point scorer out of the entrants in all classes based on the above for the three meetings will determine the 2008 Superkart Youth Champion. Where there are an equal number of points at the conclusion of the three meetings, the winners will be determined by counting back to the highest point scorer at the conclusion of the previous individual race. If points are still equal, count backs will occur after each previous race until a clear winner is determined. If after count back, there is still a tie for points, the winner will be determined by vote at an Executive Committee meeting of the Adelaide Superkart Club. The point scoring system will be advised in Event Supplementary Regulations and will reward consistent high performance.
